UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI):
The PRI are six principles that aim to help investors (all asset classes) integrate consideration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues into investment decision-making and ownership practices.
There are close to 900 signatories to the principles: asset owners, asset managers and service organizations.

The UN PRI have a dedicated Private Equity Workstream that publishes documents on responsible investment in private equity, e.g.:

The UN Global Compact:  
The UN Global Compact is aimed at companies that are committed to sustainability and responsible business practices. It offers both a both a policy platform and a practical framework.
It is based on 10 universally-accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption and offers a wide spectrum of management tools, resources, and topical programs.

The Walker Guidelines:  
Set of guidelines for Disclosure and Transparency in (UK) Private Equity published in 2007 that is applicable to Portfolio companies, Private Equity Industry and Trade Organizations (BVCA).

Invest Europe:
Industry Standards include reference to ESG and non/extra-financial items (Governing Principles, Corporate Governance guidelines and Reporting guidelines)
